Kenneth Scott is a visual artist who grew up in the Katrina-devastated 9th Ward neighborhood in New Orleans. From a very early age, Scott's paintings fulfilled a need for escapism and empowerment-qualities of art that he still appreciates in painting today. Scott's work is well regarded for his admittedly otherworldly color schemes that often reinterpret real persons with fresh individuality, in this case his Jazz Icons series. Scott believes, "To empower someone with my images brings me much joy and is a constant reminder that what I do is certainly not in vain."
